Kristin Matas, MS, LCMHCS, LCAS, NCC

Kristin Matas is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Licensed Addiction Specialist (LCAS).  She received a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in Minnesota and B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.  She has been practicing counseling for about 10 years. Kristin is a board supervisor and can supervise associate licensed mental health counselors (LCMHC-A) in North Carolina.  

 

Kristin specializes in working with adults and adolescents who have depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse issues, anger management problems, and a wide range of other psychological and behavioral concerns. Her therapy approach integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy (PCT), and Motivational Interviewing. She also incorporates dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients regulate emotions, improve mindfulness and build interpersonal relationship skills. She is a Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) trained clinician and can use her TF-CBT training to help treat individual ages 10 to 18 who have PTSD. She is also trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidenced-based treatment for adults with PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and complicated grief. Self-awareness, responsibility, and proactivity are significant aspects toward personal development.  The treatment process will assist you in healing through a holistic approach, by integrating the mind, body, heart, and spirit.
